This Saturday, women in cities all over the country will march in protest of hate, intolerance and acts of violence on the inaugural weekend of the 45th president. While I will personally be participating in the Boston march, the largest and most prominent of these demonstrations will occur on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.. Inspired by the Women’s March, Refinery29’s creative department has created a series of graphic compositions which speak to the spirit and mission of these demonstrations. I’ve shared just a few of my favorites below but I highly recommend checking out the entire body of work here.

My latest interiors obsession is herringbone patterned floor design. This design element compliments both contemporary and traditional spaces and adds a dimension of texture and movement to every room it occupies. I think my favorite examples are those in hardwood flooring where the tone of floor boards vary throughout (see the first example below). That being said, herringbone patterns have also been popping up in tile and brick flooring and the results are really impressive.

I’m very fortunate to work for a company with a lot of employee benefits – including free daily lunch. For this reason I rarely feel any pangs of jealousy when hearing about other company’s office perks. However, seeing photos from DropBox’s San Fransisco headquarters and their beautiful cafeteria, I have to say, made me a little bit envious of the people that get to enjoy that space every day. The 5,000 sq. ft dining hall was designed by NYC firm, AvroKo. Here’s what they have to say about the project:

“Taking inspiration from one of the company’s mottos, ‘sweat the details,’ the design focuses on small features and individually crafted furniture and lighting to transform moods and create a flexible space.”

Finally getting back to the blog after a long holiday break from posting. This first post of 2017 features a truly unique home in Southern Utah being auctioned later this month. The Utah Cliff House is, as the name suggests, built into a cliff in the Utah desert near Arches National Park. The 2,100 square foot residence includes an additional 12 acres of property and comes equipped with modern amenities despite its remote location. The original architects and owners of the home are looking to auction their remarkable property to a buyer who shares their passion for the land and history of the site.

While I don’t think I’d be the right buyer, I have to say that seeing these images has made me nostalgic for the trip I took last year to Arches National Park. Check out the video below for a tour of the home and its surrounding property. Enjoy!
